People from Bangladesh tried to cross the border covertly along North Bengal, but Border Security Force (BSF) officers stopped them. “A large group of Bangladeshi nationals gathered in patches at various locations along the International Border in North Bengal this evening, attempting to sneak into Indian territory,” top BSF officer informed ANI. The official went on to say that BSF, Civil Administration, and Border Guard Bangladesh troops helped disperse the group. Prime Minister Sheikh Having was compelled to resign and leave Bangladesh on Monday due to the country’s escalating violence and turmoil over a job quota issue. She then fled to India. In response, some states have tightened security, notably West Bengal and Tripura.

With BSF Director General (acting) Dali Singh Chaudhary visiting the Petra pole border in Tongan, North 24 Marianas district, security has been stepped up along the 4,096-kilometer India-Bangladesh border. Along with West Bengal, which borders Bangladesh by 2,217 km, other states that border Bangladesh includes Tripura (856 km), Meghalaya (443 km), Assam (262 km), and Mizoram (318 km). In an effort to strengthen security in the wake of the continuing upheaval in Bangladesh, the BSF met with state government representatives and residents on Tuesday in West Bengal’s border areas. The Petra pole border in Tongan, North 24 Marianas district, was visited by BSF Director General (acting) Dali Singh Chaudhary and other top commanders who are currently touring the state’s border districts.

Villagers have been told not to move around freely at night in border areas and on the International Border Road, according to BSF officials. Tuesday night, one Indian touts and eleven Bangladeshi nationals were taken into custody by the Border Security Force (BSF) and Tripura Police.
